Traumatic Right Arm Amputation with Surgical Debridement and Closure

ID: exh76495d
This exhibit begins with one view of the right arm illustrating the post-accident condition. This image reveals the traumatic amputation of the upper arm above the elbow. A transparent view of the hand and forearm is included to demonstrate the loss of this portion of the arm. Next, multiple steps of the surgical closure are illustrated in graphic detail. The first step depicts the ligating of the brachial artery. The second shows the posterior triceps, biceps and deltoid muscles are sharply debrided and transected with cautery. The third step shows the humerus is then rongeured back to a smooth surface. The final step shows how the muscles and skin are re-approximated to cover the stump of the humerus.rn
