Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion Surgery - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This exhibit features the pre-operative condition of congenital stenosis from C3-7 with significant cervical compression and myelomalacia at C4-5 as well as multiple surgical steps of an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion.
Specifically shown in this case are four surgical steps detailing the following:
A- A horizontal incision is made to expose the vertical vertebra.
B- The disc and osteophyte material is removed and the vertebral bodies are cleaned off.
C- A bone graft is measured, drilled down and countersunk about 2 mm into the disc space.
D- Screws are used to attach a Synthes plate to C4 and C5 vertebral bodies.
