Lumbar Spine Injuries with Surgical Fusion - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This medical exhibit consists of six illustrations on a single exhibit.
The first illustration depicts the preoperative condition of the lumbar spine in a sagittal view. The disc herniations at L4-5 and L5-S1 are clearly depicted. This illustration is based directly off of the radiology films.
The second illustration shows the initial incision being made.
The third illustration depicts the discectomy being performed at L4-5.
The fourth illustration portrays the placement of a cage at L5-S1. An implant is already present in the L4-5 disc space in this illustration.
The fifth illustration shows the attachment of the plate at L5-S1.
The sixth illustration is a lateral view of the postoperative condition of the lumbar spine. The bones are drawn semi-transparently so that the hardware is clearly visible. This illustration is based directly off of the radiology films.
